montavilla is rooted in our history
Montavilla's roots stretch back to the first subdivision in this neighborhood, Mount Tabor Villa Addition. It was annexed to the city of Portland in 1906.
The name Montavilla is a contraction of the name of the first subdivision and was used for the first time as the name of the first post office in 1891.
Today, the neighborhood is thriving, celebrated for its cultural diversity, Asian markets, local restaurants, small retail shops, the Academy Theater, and one of Portland’s favorite farmers markets.
